It offers features such as four way rapid traverse, single handle 'joy-stick' controls and feed and threading safety interlocks that make it a breeze to operate. The four way rapid traverse makes set up a cinch and the 'joy-stick' control allows carriage or cross slide movement in any direction at the flip of a lever without changing the rotation of the feed rod or spindle.

Summit is proud to offer the newly redesigned Summit 42" Series Oil Country hollow spindle lathes. These rugged lathes are designed to provide the precision you expect and the rugged reliability required for today’s demanding applications. The 42 "Oil Country" lathes are available in center distances from 60" to 360" with spindle bores from 6" to 20" to cover a wide range of work pieces. The quick-change gearbox allows easy selection of Inch, Metric and Module threads in a wide range of sizes. The headstock is designed with straight cut final drive gears that provide quiet and efficient operation through the full range of spindle speeds. The huge forged spindle is mounted in double row cylindrical roller bearings for radial load and preloaded angular contact bearings for radial and thrust loads. The bed of the Summit 42 series Oil Country lathes are constructed from high-grade alloyed cast iron, normalized and aged to achieve maximum stability. The lathe features a full to the floor casting that is heavily ribbed for rigidity and vibration dampening.
