JDub Records to release The Sway Machinery EP on September 16 2008!

JDub Records is proud to announce the release of The Sway Machinery's self-titled EP on September 16th, 2008. The release will coincide with Hidden Melodies Revealed, two multi-media performances taking place at Le Poisson Rouge in Manhattan on Rosh Hashanah, September 29th and 30th. The Sway Machinery is an all-star collective of innovative visionaries lead by guitarist Jeremiah Lockwood of Balkan Beat Box. The Sway Machinery also includes Brian Chase of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs on drums, Stuart Bogie and Jordan McLean of the Antibalas horn section on tenor saxophone and trumpet respectively, and touring member of The Arcade Fire Colin Stetson on bass saxophone. The EP also features the extraordinary talents of Tomer Tzur on percussion.

The Sway Machinery's sound stems from Lockwood's rich musical relationships with his grandfather Cantor Jacob Konigsberg, and with his mentor Carolina Slim, the renowned blues player who fondly guided Lockwood's musical development. Konigsberg, one of the last great exponents of Cantorial singing, guided Lockwood into an understanding and love of the soulful and ancient heritage of Synagogue music.

How SDF is tackling machinery supply issues

The globalisation of the tractor and combine harvester industries shows no sign of slowing, with another European supplier ramping up production in India, China and Croatia. And farmers and contractors in Australia can expect to hear more from the Italian-based Same-Deutz-Fahr Group, which claims to be the world's fourth biggest farm machinery conglomerate after John Deere, CNH and AGCO. Also underscoring its privately-owned credentials has seen export sales regional manager SDF Group, Marco Polastri, fill in the background behind recent company moves on a visit to Lamborghini distributor, Inlon Agrimec Group, Ourimbah, NSW.Upping SDF Group's shareholding in the famed Deutz engine supplier from 20pc to 42pc is all about taking the bullish farm tractor supplier to the next level in the aftermath of its 2002 strategy to realise worldwide potential by increasing production volumes.

Accessing the engines, technology and global distribution network of Deutz, one of the largest diesel engine manufacturers in the world, remains a pivotal part of its outward-looking strategy."This is very important for a tractor manufacture - because you need to have ownership of the engines which are the heart of the tractor," Mr Polastri said.On top of these sizeable investment decisions, the SDF Group is tracking improvements in the economy of Croatia to start building combine harvesters in what once was a Deutz factory.

Lick invests in new machinery

Lick invests in new machinery. That demand has been experienced by three divisions of the buisness - Lick Direct, Lick Online and Lick Digital The group has invested in three pieces of equipment, a Buhrs BB300, a Sitma C80 750 and a Konica MinoltThe Buhrs BB300 at Lick Direct is a six station enclosing machine that will mechanically enclose up to six items in to envelopes ranging in size from DL to C4. Running speeds for the Buhrs vary, but on average the machine is looking at enclosing 5,500 net per hour. The Sitma machine is a five-station polywrap line and will allow around 4,500 items, including brochures and catalogues, to be enclosed in polypropylene film each hour.

Lick said that the Buhrs machine will increase hourly production by 150 per cent against its older machines, as well as providing greater reliability and improved double and miss detection. The flexibility of sizes that the Buhrs machine can handle means Lick Direct is now able to produce a variety of work on a single machine.Lick added that the Sitma system will be able to treble the hourly output of polywrapped items. Andrew Brown, Lick Group's operations director, said: 'The Konica is a more robust piece of machinery and can take a far wider range of stock including most sheet fed papers.

Machinery museum gains momentum

Construction is already under-way to complete the large 12 by 22 metre building to allow the club to display its vintage machines which have been found on farm properties all over the Kaipara as well as machinery with Kaipara connections brought to the museum from out of the district. The building will include; a large display area to show off tools and machinery from yesteryear, clubrooms, a library, administrative rooms and public toilets. The Museum will be open to the public seven days a week and the old building, which currently stores some vintage machinery, will be turned into a restoration workshop. Building project manager Kevin Morris says the work is expected to be completed by Christmas.KVM president Bruce Galloway says this is a huge milestone for the club.

"We’ve come a long way considering it all started from a block of land completely covered in pine trees, back in 2001".He says the club’s thanks goes out to local businesses, volunteers and club members for their support."We owe so much to them."Mr Galloway says because of everyone’s support, the Vintage Machinery Club has been able to give back to the community at large.Future plans for the club include turning an early era cowshed currently at the machinery museum into a working mini dairy farm. Visitors will be shown how to collect milk from cows the old-fashioned way and there will be butter churns making real butter.

NEW COMPACT TRACK LOADERS

Komatsu recently introduced two new, compact, rubber-track loader models. The model CK30, with 2,485 pounds operating capacity, and CK35, with 2,755 pounds operating capacity, are Komatsu’s first entries into the fast-growing compact track-loader market segment.

“Contractors in New Jersey and elsewhere are flocking to compact track loaders because they work in conditions where wheel-type skid steer loaders struggle,” said Skid Steer Loader Product Manager Bob Beesley. “The low ground pressure (four to five psi) makes them ideal for any job, but especially in soft conditions or where minimum soil compaction is desired. That describes the lion’s share of skid steer loader applications.” According to Beesley, Komatsu offers the best of both worlds in loader design too. The CK30 loader uses radial-lift-path technology, while the larger CK35 is a vertical-lift-path loader. The radial lift path is ideally suited to ground-engaging applications, while the vertical lift path, with its 129-inch hinge-pin height (eight inches more than the CK30), is more suited to material-handling and truckloading operations. A Komatsu 84-horsepower, high-torque, turbocharged diesel engine powers both units.
