This cam grinding machine is specially designed for grinding of various cylindrical profiles. It was originally developed for grinding punches used in the pharmaceutical (tablet making) machines.A master-cam (MC) is required which is then used to generate a generating-cam (GC) the GC in turn is used for grinding profile of components. An MC is an exact (one-to-one) replica of the finished profile. From the MC a GC is made. This generating cam is then used for producing the profiled components. The GC is made on cam grinding machine itself using the MC.For grinding the cam/profile on a work-space the machine has a stationary follower on which the GC rests. The rotation of the GC provides oscillating movement to the work-head which is holding the work-piece. The GC coordinates the rotary & radial movements required for developing the necessary profile on the work-piece.

The machine requires practically no routine maintenance. The grinding spindles are mounted on super precision bearings, lubricated with long life grease & sealed for life. The same applies to the work head spindle lubrication. The wheel-side runs on x roller linear bearings. These are grease lubricated & require relubrication once a month. The feed nut & the work slide are oil lubricated & require relubrication once a shift. Work Table : Table travel is effected by means of hydraulic cylinder. It’s speed can be infinitely varied by speed control valve. Table stroke can be varied by means of dogs provided on the table. Work slide has a micro feed for shoulder grinding and for control of axial dimensions. Work Head : Work-head is mounted on a swivel base to facilliate grinding of steep tapers. It has a D.C. Drive permitting stepless speed variation. Work-head spindle is supported on super precision(ISO – P4) Antifriction Bearing providing exceptionally high running accuracy & rigidity. It is grease packed for life.
